Shaw + Smith, Pinot Noir, Adelaide Hills, 2021

There’s sometimes criticism of Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir that it can appear a little to “dry red” and not carry the elegance and “pinosity” required, this is one of those labels that dispels that thinking. Fragrant and muscular. Dark woody spices (cinnamon and a hint of clove) through the deep fleshy cherry and dark berry notes over crushed leaf and a little thyme. Exquisite tannin profile underscoring the class of the winemaking. Intricate, yet lithe and balanced with approachability and a structure that will only develop further in the bottle.
