A big jump in stated alcohol from the 2019. Still one of the few single Roussanne bottlings in Australia. Sourced primarily from a single vineyard next door to the Yalumba winery in Angaston. Wild ferment. Fermentation and maturation for 10 and 1/2 months in old French oak barriques. Vegan friendly. The masterful Louisa Rose is winemaker.
Yalumba, Roussanne, Eden Valley, 2020
Lemon gold hue with almost green highlights. Rich and layered, cultured butter and yellow flowers. Nutty, savoury and briny (a recurrent “Chicken Chip” aroma) with stone fruits and a light caramel sweetness. Expressive and textural. Round succulence with bittersweet etchings. Retains delicacy despite the obvious heft. Very good.
