Mencía hails from the N-W corner of Spain and there’s also plantings in Portugal. Here Quartz Hill and their winemaker Owen Latta (Eastern Peake, LATTA Wines) have crafted a stylish Rosé. Wild ferment and no oak used in the vinification. Available for purchase via the Quartz Hill website.
Quartz Hill, Mencía, Rosé, Pyrenees, 2021
Pale onion skin hue. Aromas of watermelon, white peach, sand and dust. Tight and textured. Bone dry with only the vaguest suggestion of watermelon gracing a savoury palate. Refreshing acidity for drive. Points for interest and intensity.
