Sidewood Estate, Shiraz, Adelaide Hills, 2024

Deep and inky colour with a vibrant edge. Savoury focus: olive tapenade, leather furniture, black cherry, blood plum, gun flint, with the juxtaposition of roast pan meat edges and cool mint freshness. Flowing and supple with an almost unctuous flesh. Spiced and savoury with an acid vein that keeps the finish highly strung. Tannins are rumbling and fine. Sorry vegetarians, but serve up with a medium rare porterhouse steak, crispy potatoes and Dijon mustard.
