Named after the famed Dame Nellie Melba. The Melba vineyard first planted in 1971 with further plantings in 1987, 1988 and 1990. Oak and stainless steel ferment (18-20 days) before 12 months maturation in new and older French oak and clay amphora. Chief winemaker Steve Webber continues to take charge of this De Borts icon.

Medium garnet with brick-ish rim. Focused, concentrated and elegant. Blackcurrant and bramble, kirsch edges with an understated class of roasting coffee bean, walnut and cedar. Chocolate wafer oak gives a comforting wrap and sweet edge that doesn’t distract but adds to the package. Elegant and balanced. Exquisite balance between immediate appeal of black flesh and the portent of impeccable tannins for ageing. Long finish exhibiting balance and persistence.
