Brash Higgins, MCC, Mataro, Cinsault, Carignan, McLaren Vale, 2018
Dark garnet with a slightly turbid manner. Aromas of bitumen, pineapple lump chocolate, damp earth, roses and cherries with spent tea leaves, fresh mushroom and a touch of animal rusticity. Peppery, clove spice palate full of tight red cherry flavour with drying, papery tannins over the savoury rusticity (which threatens to derail, but is kept on its leash). Bright flourish to the finish with surprising acidity. Demands food.
