The short squat bottle, reminiscent of farmhouse jug rather than a elegant vessel, embossed with Jupiter astride an eagle, ready with lightning in his hand. There’s a bright future for Barbera from the Longview vineyards with the berries having acidity akin to Jupiter’s lightning.
Longview Vineyard, Jupiter, Barbera, Adelaide Hills, 2018
A bright light cerise colour. Perfumed maraschino cherry, small plum, rose petal, grated chocolate, singed citrus zest and plenty of brown spice. Medium bodied. An intense palate with searing, juicy acidity that cuts through fine, just crinkled baking paper tannins. Feels a little unhinged and wild (yet harmoniously put together). Irresistible.
