From the Certified Organic B & V Vineyard (established by Bob and Verna Symons in 1992) The wine was matured in French oak, with only 43% new (compared to the 2015 which saw 72% new!) Put together by Mike Mudge, who has stepped down after 30 years (and the lauded Teresa Heuzenroeder being poached from Yalumba)
Petaluma, B & V Vineyard, Shiraz, Adelaide Hills, 2018
Fruit is back to be prime. Rich and generous, but not smothered in oak. Some shiny black olive, pan jus and ham hock depth, kitchen herbs, sandalwood, dark berry melange over peppery spice. Generous palate structure with wavy, loose tannins that slowly tightens into fine focus with cool-nights Hills bright acidity. Lingering dark spice and dark char. A classy release, suitable for medium term ageing.
