New(ish) range from one the bigger Barossa players. The A.J. range is named after Ann Jacob, one of the early pioneers of the Barossa who grew vegetables, fruits and importantly vines in the 1840s. Her diary sits in the South Australia State Library. Made by Trina Smith.
Jacob’s Creek, A.J., Chardonnay, Barossa, 2020
Pale straw lemon colour. Well worked Chardonnay in full display. Nutty/woody French oak influences over fig and stone fruit with plenty of struck match and little Melba toast toastyness. Rich, layered and fully flavoured. Bittersweet citrus with a quinine edge permeates over tacky, grippy phenolics. Retains a tight focus through the lengthy, dry, flavoursome tail.
