Yalumba, Samuel’s Collection, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa, 2019
The colour runs to deep ruby garnet with crimson edges. Best of both worlds: Soaked plums and blackberries with eucalypt leaves, “Saxa” black pepper, chocolate covered wafer biscuit, cedary oak and woody spice. Bright and alive on the palate. The generous, satiny front filled with plums, red currants and chocolate before fine yet raspy tannins. A good match for marinated kangaroo steaks.
