Fermented with wild yeasts in French oak barrels (20% new). 8 months maturation in barrel with zero bâtonnage (lees stirring). The majority of the wine went through malolactic fermentation (70%) for further complexity.
Ten Minutes by Tractor, 10X, Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula, 2018
Oak is evident, but a sweet vanilla wrap rather than a sharp olfactory splinter. Limey/ grapefruit citrus under fig and light white nectarine skin with elements of good funk. A fuller wine with power as can be Mornington’s signature, yet retaining elegance through taut acidity and gentle wine making caresses. Coffeed, savoury edges keep the acidity hemmed in. Very good now, even better next year.
