Winemaker Darryl Catlin says this of the Loose Goose: “Setting aside a small parcel of handpicked Grüner Veltliner, I destemmed the grapes to a fermenter with no Sulphur additions and added some berries of Sauvignon Blanc. I then allowed it to ferment naturally for 4 weeks until it was sugar dry. This parcel was then pressed to French Oak barrel to mature for 6 months.”
Catlin Wines, #3 Loose Goose, Grüner Veltliner, Adelaide Hills, 2019
Medium lemon/gold hue. Herbal and lifted: Juniper, steel, fruit bun, grapefruit, Jersey caramel, lime, starfruit tropicals, fresh grass, crushed rocket/arugula and apple. Dry, but still with some generosity to the palate. Limey citrus, chalky texture while still having the attention grabbing grip of this range. Probably the most approachable of the 3 GVs.
