Fruit taken from Dandelion’s Firehawk Farm: a “single biodynamically run vineyard perched atop an ancient ridge
overlooking McLaren Vale, the Willunga escarpment and the Gulf St Vincent.” 2/3rds whole bunches. A blend of new and old French oak for 18 months maturation. From the talented hands of Elena and Zar Brooks.
Dandelion Vineyards, Treasure Trove, Grenache, McLaren Vale, 2021
Initial McLaren Vale raspberry jube pop with peppery stalky spice from the whole bunch component before a savoury bent: iodine, graphite, peanut oil and dried herbs. The palate refined and carrying a crisp, chiseled structure. Light silkiness without being slick. Spice and tacky tannins under Chambord-esque black/red fruit and a cool, mineral spine with a cut of late acidity. Let it cut through sticky ribs (beef short ribs or pork babyback with a little spice).
