There’s a lot work going into the Y Series from Yalumba: This spends 12 hours on skins prior to pressing, wild ferment and then lees stirring during maturation. That’s a lot of effort and care for an entry level wine.
Yalumba, The Y Series, Sauvignon Blanc, South Australia, 2019
Snow pea, grapefruit, lemon granita and a savoury, mineral edge from the wild ferment. Zippy and lively on the palate while maintaining some depth and texture from the lees work. Lemon, light passionfruit and a touch of bittersweet grapefruit linger long. Stays well away from pungency and mean green lines. Good value.
