This years blend sees an increase in the Shiraz from the 2016 with Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), Shiraz (31%) and Cabernet Franc (11%). Fruit grown on Lucy and Xavier Bizot’s 37 million year old soil Crayères vineyard, (located next to the lauded Tapanappa Whalebone vineyard). Bottled under cork (using 1 by 1 technology). Note: Bottle image is of the 2016, but not other change apart from the date.
Terre à Terre, Crayères Vineyard, Reserve, Wrattonbully, 2018
Dusty, dark, brooding, inviting, spiced, ripe, classy, elegant. Cassis, Turkish Bazaar spices, purple flowers, dark raspberry, bramble, cool stone and slight carbonic-type lift. Refined and understated. Cool slate like stoniness with just ripe brambly black fruit. Super fine layers of exquisite texture framing dark fruits. Length and phantom-like echoes of flavour. To give an oxymoron: “simply” a beautiful wine.
